TEA IN BULK OR IN SACHETS?
All over Europe we have different varieties to choose from when it comes to drinking tea. Fruit teas, herbal teas, green tea, black tea, rooibos, white tea, red tea and blue tea can be found in bulk or in bags. In addition, there are many exotic and speciality teas.
It is often said that bulk tea is much better than bagged tea. We must bear in mind that the worst quality teas are those that we find on the supermarket shelves. At La Buena Tierra, although we are committed to bulk tea, we offer many options of the best brands of tea bags.
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BULK AND BAGGED TEA
What is it that really distinguishes a form of consuming someone else's tea? Here are some of the main differences you will find:
- At La Buena Tierra we make sure that all the varieties of bulk tea we offer are 100% natural and handicrafts.
- Bulk tea is harvested by handwhile bagged tea is picked up by a machine who cuts up the whole plant and crushes it, so that it fits better in the sachet.
- Bulk tea, as it is hand-picked, retains all of its properties, as there are no mechanised production processes to interfere with them.
- Some companies add a large amount of artificial flavoursThe sachets give off a fantastic smell when we open them, and even permeate our supermarket bags.
- Bulk tea is so much more colourful and beautiful. The pickers use the most beautiful leaves for bulk tea, while they leave the broken leaves or those that have started to powder for tea bags, as they know they will be ground and mixed with other elements.
- The tea bags are single-use. However, bulk tea leaves can be infused more than once. At La Buena Tierra we do not recommend this practice at all, as it loses much of its flavour and aroma, and will lose some properties. But for example, if you like your tea very mild, it is something you could take into account.
The quality of the tea itself and the intensity of its flavour are the main advantages of bulk tea over tea bags. It all depends on how much we want to enjoy this drink and how much time we have to brew it, although with the methods that exist today, there is practically no difference.
ADVANTAGES OF BOTH METHODS
BULK TEA
- Can be dosed as desired
- Usually fresher than bagged tea
- Maintains properties better
- No chemicals or artificial flavourings
TEA IN BAGS
- Very simple preparation: Open the box, take a sachet and infuse it in hot water for 5-8 minutes.
- Less storage space than bulk tea
